Health Information

Access Health Information (for patients)

The Health Records Act 2001 (Victoria) (the HRA Act) gives individuals a right of access to their personal health information, in accordance with Health Privacy Principle 6 (HPP6). HPP 6 obliges health service providers and other organisations that hold health information about a person to give them access to their health information on request, subject to certain exceptions and the payment of fees (if any).

When can I expect a response?

We will respond to all requests without unreasonable delay. However as specified by the act, access requests may take up to a maximum of 45 days.

Accessing copies of results information

All results should first be discussed with your regular GP or an equivalent healthcare professional. To protect notification of results, copies will only be released after discussed with your GP or in accordance with access requirement of the act.

The fastest way to access results information is to contact your regular GP, who can obtain copies from our regular diagnostic providers and discuss these results with you.

Format of accessing information

When copies are provided to individuals, you will be notified that you can pick up a copy in person from the practice location, or if you elect to have them posted once you have paid for the cost of posting to your address.

No health information will be provided by unsecure email, to protect access and maintain privacy.
